Gondola Shelving

Gondola shelving is freestanding, double-sided commercial shelving used to create retail store aisles. Built from heavy-gauge steel with adjustable shelf heights, gondola units are the standard fixture in grocery stores, convenience stores, and pharmacies. Each section is 4 ft long — a starter unit stands on its own and add-on sections extend the run 4 ft at a time.

About Gondola Shelving

Gondola shelving is the backbone of grocery, convenience, and general retail floors. These free-standing, double-sided steel units create full aisles of adjustable shelving, and add-on sections let you extend a run as far as the floor allows. Heavy-gauge uprights and cantilever brackets carry serious weight, so the same fixture works for canned goods, packaged food, hardware, or health-and-beauty.

Our new gondola system is built around 48"-long (4 ft) starter and add-on units in heavy-duty steel with pegboard backing. Starter units stand on their own on 16" bases in 54" or 72" heights; add-on units extend the run 4 ft at a time from an existing section. Heavy duty 15"-deep upper shelves finish out each level.

On a budget? We also stock used gondola shelving — freestanding island sections in white with pegboard backing, and individual used shelves sold by size and quantity. It is the most affordable way to fill a floor.

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a starter and an add-on unit?

A starter unit includes both end uprights and stands on its own. Add-on units share an upright with the unit before them, so you only add one upright per section — a more economical way to build out a long aisle.

Are the shelves adjustable?

Yes. Gondola shelves hang on slotted uprights and reposition on roughly one-inch centers, so you can set shelf heights and depths to match your product.

How does gondola shelving ship?

Gondola units ship on LTL freight from our warehouse. Freight is quoted with your order.

Do you sell used gondola shelving?

Yes — we carry used freestanding island sections and individual used gondola shelves. Used inventory changes, so request a quote for current availability.

What sizes do gondola units come in?

New starter and add-on units are 48 inches (4 ft) long on 16-inch bases, available in 54-inch and 72-inch heights. Upper shelves are 15 inches deep.

Can you spec a custom gondola run for my floor plan?

Yes. Send us your layout and we will work out how many starter and add-on units the aisle needs, then quote the run. Every section adds 4 ft of length, so a 20 ft row is one starter unit plus four add-on units.
